Catch the Egg - UltraKiSS version
  by Cal

This set requires UltraKiSS, preferably the latest version (it was made using
a version downloaded on 15-03-2005). Java runtime needed: 1.4 for PNG support.
This has to be the buggiest set ever because Apple's SUPERB Java support
meant I couldn't test it reliably. When I have access to a REAL computer
again I will sort out the bugs.

03-04-2005 Debugged version uploaded, description added.
11-04-2009 Apparently the wrong version was uploaded; took latest version and
tweaked it.

Short set description: collect the nine eggs from the Easter Bunny before they're
delivered (ie. dropped in the grass) by clicking on them. This is very tricky
as most of the egg is in the bun's backpack and what sticks out is hidden
between the ears. (It doesn't help that even the Java VM for Windows can't
keep up with the animation, so most of the time you're not clicking on what
you think you're clicking on.) Very rarely, the bunny will stop and prick its
ears; this is a good chance to nab some eggs. Alternatively, put a carrot in
the bunny's path (click on large carrot, it will reappear in the field as a
small carrot, put it in the bunny's path) and it will stop to eat. Click on
the bunny and it may drop a half-eaten carrot to be reused. A carrot can only
appear on the page where it was used!
As the bun runs around, it has three options when going to the next page:
east, northeast and southeast (except when the lake is blocking the way down).
To follow the bun automatically, press the AutoFollow button (it goes dark).
To change page, use the cursor keys (N,E,S,W) or the arrows that materialize
under the cursor when it moves around the edge of the page (N,E,S,W,NE,SE,NW,SW).
This turns off AutoFollow. Page 0 shows the whole scene, with a red bunny on
the spot where the bun is. Click on this red image to go straight to the bun's
current page.
Nabbed eggs will show at the bottom of the page. If less than 9 eggs are
collected when the time is up or the last egg has been tossed or taken, you
lose. The bun tosses out whatever egg it has in its bag every minute. Clicking
on the tossed egg before it's on the ground is the last chance to catch it.

Update 2009: that bunny was really moving too fast. I've slowed it down a bit.
The new eggs were appearing too quickly, too. I could feed the rabbit a carrot
and then click nine times to get all the eggs. Now, all I can get is three eggs
per carrot, so three carrots should see me through. Lastly, I left a testing
sound in the set which is the intellectual property of someone else. When
dropped in a bush, as opposed to in the lake, the carrot is supposed to
disappear soundlessly, so I took the sound out.

Disclaimer/credits/terms of use:

Images: mostly made with Paint Shop Pro, the water and grass were edited
from images included with PSP. The curly letters were made in Ulead PhotoImpact
5, from which I also used some pattern files. The bushes were made from "tree"
stamps in Neopaint for Windows.

Sounds: nibble.wav and splash.wav are edited versions of royalty-free
soundfiles included with the hardware for my Pinnacle capture card. no.wav is
a probably copyrighted file from a game demo CD, from the Sierra crossword
puzzle demo to be exact. I used it anyway because it sounds very cute. (When
playing the demo, I did the puzzle wrong on purpose just to hear that funny
"nuh-uh" sound.) Please don't sue me, Sierra.
Code: all my own.
